Tottenham must keep Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to challenge in EPL next season – National Soccer

When I look around the changing room there’s Gareth, Aaron Lennon, Rafa van der Vaart, Emmanuel Adebayor and even the likes of Louis Saha, Brad Friedel.. With his contract set to expire next summer, Modric is likely to use his performance at this summer’s UEFA European Championships with his country to posture for a transfer.

FC Barcelona are huge admirers of the youngster, and despite Bale’s agent claiming he will not leave the club this summer in The Sun, there is no guarantee that he will stay:

While the loss of Modric remains a major concern, so does the loss of 23-year-old Welsh sensation Gareth Bale. It’s only upwards for Tottenham.

Gareth wants to stay for next season.

I think it’s vital (we keep them), the chairman showed last season that we are not a selling club.

The frustrating result of the UEFA Champions League final this season saw Tottenham’s hopes of European football dashed by their fellow Londoners.

With no shot at the top tier of European club competition this coming season there is doubt that the club can hold onto the best players in their squad.

In support of the two remaining at the club, Tottenham’s reining PFA Young Player of the Year, Kyle Walker has come out in the Daily Mail calling for both Modric and Bale to stay with the club:

To say he is happy at the club right now is a bit of an understatement.

Croatian international Luka Modric has already flirted with leaving the club having been a major transfer target for clubs last season.

We can challenge next year for the title, definitely.

Walker’s plea is not one taking lightly by anyone in the Tottenham fan base as it echoes their concern over losing their best players.

No matter what happens you can rest assured that the sales of both Modric and Bale would at least provide a mass of funds in the range of £60 million plus that Tottenham would have to rebuild an even stronger squad for the future.

Real Madrid is already said to have made an offer in the range of £25 million leaving the club with no other choice but to start to brace themselves for the exit of their most talented midfield creator.

There are world-class players there, experienced heads and they have helped me a lot this season. We will be up there.

However, this summer there is a high chance that he could indeed leave White Hart Lane
